the trip part 4: christchurch, akaroa, peel forest

Mike and Katie hosted us at their home in Christchurch and showed us around a bit. Highlights were the huge Hagley Park and botanic gardens in the city center, and especially the amazing stone buildings and courtyards and lawns of the Arts Centre.

Mike took us on a walk on the nearby Banks Peninsula.

Then off to Akaroa, a quiet town on Banks Peninsula where we had a pretty low-key two days of R&R.

Then across the Canterbury Plains to camp at Peel Forest, a pleasant and tidy holiday park with a selection of walks into the native bush in the nearby hills.
