noisy bugger!

These little guys are NOISY! Anyone know what they are? I think it is their mating season, because they are sure active.

  1. Judging from its length, large wings, and apparent capability of making lots of noise, I’d guess that it may be from the Cicada family. Are there lots of them around right now? If so, the cicada theory makes even more sense, given that they only come out every 16 years, or something.

    The lime green colouring is intriguing.

  2. You may well be right. I haven’t seen anything like them before. The closest I have seen are crickets and locusts, both of which look quite different. And yes, there are lots and lots of them; flying around, buzzing in trees (at certain times of the day), their molted shells attached to walls and trees…
