kiwinglish

Kiwis tend to pronounce their “e’s” hard…

e.g. “best” is “beast”

“beckon” is “beacon.”

Not exactly like that, but close.

Today I was chatting with Blair about how nice it was to have a three day weekend, and that it would be nice to have them more often. He says “you know, we should be able to work fourteen hour days and take a day off every week!”

I thought – fourteen hour days doesn’t make sense; he must have just misspoken and meant ten hour days. So I forgot about it.

On the way home I realized…he said four…ten hour days. Ha! Had a good chuckle to myself. Even English needs interpretation sometimes. 🙂
